# Seva Shaposhnikov > Product designer, design leader, educator and musician based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Currently a Senior Product Designer at Recraft. Previously Miro’s first growth marketing designer and Head of Design at Netology. This file provides a text overview of Seva’s background and portfolio. Updated October 2026. ## About Seva has around ten years of design experience across edtech, B2C products and B2B SaaS. His work connects product design with growth, user experience and experimentation: how people discover a product’s value, where they get stuck, what helps them move forward and what makes a product worth paying for. His experience includes creative AI tools, mobile applications, monetization, onboarding, lifecycle journeys, email systems, SEO, website conversion and internal tools. He has worked both as an individual designer and as Head of Design, building and mentoring a team and setting visual direction across product and marketing. ## Career ### Recraft — Senior Product Designer, July 2025–present [Recraft](https://www.recraft.ai/) builds AI generation and editing tools for designers. Seva designs product features and growth experiments, and designed Recraft’s mobile app for AI creation and editing. - [Recraft mobile app on the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/recraft-ai-images-and-videos/id6502416347) ### Miro — Product Designer, 2020–2025 Seva joined [Miro](https://miro.com/) as its first growth marketing designer and helped build the growth marketing function during a period of hypergrowth, as the company grew from 3 to 80 million users. This describes the company’s growth during his time there, rather than a result attributable to one designer. His work included template discovery and search-to-product experiences, SEO and website conversion experiments, lifecycle journeys and an email design system. On the Lifecycle and Monetization teams, he worked on activation, engagement and conversion, helping people discover relevant paid features at the right time. ### Netology — Product Designer, later Head of Design, 2017–2020 At [Netology](https://netology.ru/), an online education platform, Seva led product design and later became Head of Design. He grew and mentored the design team, set visual direction across product and marketing, and led the implementation of a company-wide rebrand. He also worked on onboarding and course discovery, combining product design and product management responsibilities. He proposed and designed an internal landing page builder that allowed marketing and content teams to publish course pages with minimal involvement from designers and developers. ### Independent visual design, 2016–2017 Work across websites, campaigns and print. ### Editorial and media work, 2012–2017 Before his product design career, Seva worked as an Editor-in-Chief and Media Manager on editorial projects, with teams of up to 20 people. ## Teaching and mentoring Seva has spent eight years teaching design at Netology, GeekBrains and Foxford, as well as mentoring startups and other designers. He enjoys making difficult ideas easier to understand and finds that teaching helps him question and refine his own thinking. ## Recognition - Best Welcome Email — Really Good Emails, 2024. - 2nd place — Unpacked Awards, 2025. ## Selected work - [Turning template discovery into product growth](https://sevashaposhnikov.com/cases/templates/): Miro’s template library, redesigned through research, SEO and experimentation. A few months after launch, the Templates section saw increases of 26% in new users, 17% in new corporate users, 25% in new teams and 23% in new corporate teams. A separate card-button experiment increased sign-ups by 6.11%. - [Bringing a new brand into everyday work](https://sevashaposhnikov.com/cases/netology/): leading Netology’s rollout of a new identity developed primarily by Pinkman, giving the internal design team time and room to take ownership, and bringing the brand into everyday product and marketing work. - [A better beginning for new learners](https://sevashaposhnikov.com/cases/onboarding/): improving Netology’s sign-up-to-learning journey. Default course suggestions increased conversion by 19% in one experiment; personalized suggestions increased it by 8% in a subsequent experiment. These are separate results, not a combined uplift. - [Giving teams the tools to publish on their own](https://sevashaposhnikov.com/cases/builder/): a modular internal publishing system that replaced a process requiring two to three weeks of designer and developer time for each new course page. Built with engineer Pavel Komiagin, who describes the engineering work in [this article on Habr](https://habr.com/ru/companies/netologyru/articles/711472/) (in Russian). ## Music Alongside design, Seva makes music.
